To the Honorable Premier Danielle Smith,
To the various municipal, provincial and federal officials in the Province of Alberta,
With the recent chaos on parliament hill and in Ottawa, it is manifestly reasonable that Alberta would consider other national associations, whether that be a new nation or joining with the United States of America.
My civic loyalties as a Christian & a father and a pastor are local first, before national. I am called in Jeremiah 29:7 to seek the welfare of this city. As a pastor, I do so primarily by the preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Nevertheless, I also recognize and confess the Biblical truth that God has ordained the magistrate for the praise of what is good and to bear the sword against what is evil (Rom. 13).
We need to do what is best for Grande Prairie and Alberta, not for a hodge-podge of corrupt politicians in Ottawa who are ignorant to the needs of our cities and townships.
For that reason, if the civil magistrate in Alberta were to call an orderly & legal provincial referendum to consider the option of a new nation-state or to join the United States of America as the 51st state, I would follow your leadership on this point.
I would teach the souls placed in my care what it means to follow the leadership of the magistrate on this, or if we were to retain our current affiliations, in a Biblical and godly manner, wherein Jesus Christ is honored above all and His Word is obeyed in the midst of the Church.
May the Lord give you wisdom and courage in the midst of all the convulsions of our time. May Alberta increasingly know of the kind and just rule of King Jesus.
In Christ,
Rev. Nathan Zekveld, Grande Prairie, AB

I don't think we would have to change the political boundaries of Canada to save Grande Prairie's economy, we would just need to change currencies like Premier Aberhart did during the great depression. https://substack.com/@amendt/note/p-144970995
