I will post a quote from Martin Luther here.
“True Christian theology does not inquire into the nature of God, but into God’s purpose and will in Christ, whom God incorporated in our flesh to live and to die for our sins. There is nothing more dangerous than to speculate about the incomprehensible power, wisdom, and majesty of God when the conscience is in turmoil over sin. To do so is to lose God altogether because God becomes intolerable when we seek to measure and to comprehend His infinite majesty.
We are to seek God as Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 1:23-24: ‘We preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumbling block, and unto the Greeks foolishness; but unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.’
Begin with Christ. He came down to earth, lived among men, suffered, was crucified, and then He died, standing clearly before us, so that our hearts and eyes may fasten upon Him. Thus we shall be kept from climbing into heaven in a curious and futile search after the nature of God.
If you ask how God may be found, who justifies sinners, know that there is no other God besides this man Christ Jesus. Embrace Him, and forget about the nature of God.”
–Luther, Commentary on Galatians
Do you want men and women in our nation to return to God?
Show them Jesus Christ. All of Jesus Christ. His love, His mercy, His compassion, His humility, His courage, His gentleness. Jesus the prophet priest and king. Jesus the Messiah. Jesus, the Lord over all things. The one with all authority. The one who died for the sins of rebel sinners. The one who rose to redeem them from their rebellion. The ascended Messiah, pouring out His Spirit on the earth. The incarnate baby in a manger. The Son of God purifying the sons of Levi. The gracious God-man, driving away evil spirits, cleansing the unclean, forgiving sins, showing compassion to tax-collectors and sinners.
Show them their need for Christ on the pages of the Old Testament in the griefs and terrors and sins of our modern world. Keep showing Christ and never stop talking about Him.
It is then that men and women will come to know the Triune God, the God who is eternal, incomprehensible, invisible, unchangeable, infinite, almighty; completely wise, just, and good and the overflowing source of all good. They will know Him, because their sins are forgiven. Their sins are covered in the sight of heaven. Sin will no longer be present as a barrier to walking and talking with God, too knowing God in all His mysteries. How do you come to know God? By looking upon the face of Jesus Christ in the Holy Scriptures and as the Scriptures transform the Christian from glory to glory:
2 Corinthians 4:3–6
And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

Does this apply to our children as well?
